We can’t wait to hear how your missions go, Agents of Pioneer Crossing!!

In Agent Bui’s class, the “animal endangerment/extinction team” has a plan to encourage lawmakers to protect animals, and to make posters to raise awareness of how to properly treat animals.The “more recess team” plans to ask the Principal if they can have a fundraiser to get a cover over the playground so they can play outside in inclement weather. They also plan to start a “good behavior challenge” to support and encourage kids who miss recess to earn it back.

In Agent Davis’ class, the “homelessness team” plans to have a fundraiser to raise money to donate to an organization that helps the homeless. They already made posters to raise awareness. The “anti-racism team” plans to stand up for someone when they see racism in action. They also already made posters, encouraging kind treatment of all people, and not judging a person without getting to know them.

Both teams planned on getting their messages to the rest of the school through their Broadcast Club, which reaches the entire school in the mornings, and focuses on issues handpicked by students.
Way to go Agents!

In Agent Paz’s class:

One team plans to focus on tackling pollution by organizing regular clean-ups! They also plan to contact and encourage local government to push earth friendly initiatives.
Another team wants to plan a fundraiser for the Manor Hospital! They plan to do research on volunteering there, and want to make get well soon cards for the patients there.

In Clark’s class:

One team wants to spread information and awareness about how to properly care for animals. They also plan to make posters promoting animal adoption. Another team plans to make posters that remind kids that clowns can be good. They’d like to raise awareness about the issues surrounding clown terrorism and remind kids that they don’t need to fear all clowns.

Welcome, Agents of Shadow Glen Elementary!

In Agent Lewis’ class, team anti-racism has decided to have more conversations about race and do ongoing research on inspiring celebrities who use their voice to fight racism. Team anti-sexism has plans to make posters to raise awareness, and to “be the change,” inspiring people to not judge others based on their gender.

In Agent Nobles’ class, one group of agents wants to tackle the issue of violence by promoting peace through a team called the Freedom Fighters. They also plan to organize a clothing swap in order to share styles and eliminate jealousy. Another group of agents made posters (below)  to share positive views about differences. They plan to make an announcement to their school about what to do in the face of racism.

Welcome, Agents of UT Elementary!

Welcome to our first new class of Agents to graduate from Courage in Action training this year!

We’re excited to learn more about your missions:

The Pokémon GO Safety Team plans  to perform a skit and make posters to share with students how to safely play Pokémon Go.

The Ending Police Violence Team plans to do research to learn more about the Austin Police Department, and ways to help everyone stay safe.

The Respect for Immigrants team is planning to share immigrant stories, and write letters to leaders who can make a difference.

The Stop Child Abuse team plans to raise awareness about who young people can reach out to for help if they are being hurt or abused.

In Agent Bowe’s class, the Homelessness Team is organizing to collect donations for a local shelter.  The Disease Team is recruiting volunteers to organize a fundraiser to make care packages for sick children.

In Agent Brown’s class, The Donald Trump team is developing an infomercial stressing positivity and inclusion.  The Animal Cruelty Team is recruiting volunteers to help run a fundraiser to help a local humane animal shelter.

In Agent McCorkle’s class, a team focused on Racism is excited to make YouTube videos, Instagram posts, and letters to Donald Trump about stopping racism.  The team focused on Violence hopes to research who makes laws about gun control, and write letters to them about helping to stop gun violence.

In Agent Garcia’s class, another team dedicated to stopping Racism plans to talk to the counselor about creating a “No Place for Racism” club at Shadow Glen Elementary.  The team dedicated to stopping Abuse wants to make posters and organize a march to raise awareness about many different kinds of abuse.

The Bullying Team has started a petition to gather support for having a ‘March for Kindness.’
The Too Short Recess Team has written a formal letter to request more recess time which, they argue, will improve their focus and ability to learn and collaborate during class.
In Agent Kenny’s class:
The Pollution Team aims to become organized and start a club to help their community. They’ve taken action already by creating posters to recruit more members.
The Racism Team plans to talk with the Counselor about organizing a ‘No Place For Hate March.’ They’ve already come up with catch phrases to inspire unity!

Welcome, Brentwood Agents!

Welcome, Agents of Brentwood Elementary!

In Agent Thomas’ class, the agents have decided to help stop pollution by making signs and announcements to spread their message; another group is excited to help end world hunger through a food drive.

In Agent Shirey’s class, one group of agents wants to help stop animal abuse by starting a boycott of companies who do product testing on animals; they plan to research what companies do this first, and then make posters and signs to spread the word of the boycott.  Another group wants to speak out against the racism and intolerance they’ve identified in Donald Trump’s public statements.   They’ll begin by pledging to make their own school welcome to everyone as part of the No Place for Hate wall and presentation, and will make posters and signs as well.

In Agent Olivares’ class, the agents want to do a fundraiser to help end poverty.  They plan to research organizations who help with this cause, and are hoping to find adult sponsors and corporate sponsors to help them.  Another group also wants to speak out against the racism and intolerance they’ve identified in Donald Trump’s campaign, and they started working on posters and signs.

In Agent Wilson’s class:

The Homeless Pets team plans to get the word out about how to be a responsible pet owner. They are making posters, writing speeches for the local news, and designing a wall calendar.
The Poaching team is forming an in-school club that intends to partner with local businesses to promote ethical treatment of animals.

In Agent DeAtly’s class:

The Cancer Team is organizing a Cancer Awareness assembly where students can speak.  They will also be putting together a care package for young patients at Dell Children’s Hospital.
The Animal Abuse team is writing speeches to share with their school about ways to treat animals with respect.

In Agent Child’s class:

The Destroying Land and Nature/ Construction group is planning to start a club to pick up trash at their school. At recess, they’re given a 5 minute warning before recess is over, so they had the idea to use their 5 minute warning to pick up trash around the playground.
The Terrorism group talked a lot about what’s currently going on in the world, how terrorism takes different forms, and how it relates to racism and war. The students plan on doing more research, and also will write letters to Congress encouraging them to accept Syrian refugees.

 

In Agent Valentino’s class:

The Animal Cruelty team would like shelters to do more trainings for pet owners to be responsible, and also to better ensure the health of the animals while they are in the shelter. They plan on making a petition and writing letters to local shelters, and also making posters to put in shelters about how to be a responsible pet owner.
The Mass Shootings group talked about doing a march to the Capitol, asking for more gun control. They plan on making signs and a petition for their march.
